About

I am an experienced teacher and learning leader based in Baildon, on the outskirts of Bradford. I studied English Literature at the University of London and have enjoyed a challenging, diverse and rewarding career in a variety of educational settings in Kent, London and Yorkshire. Passionate about life-long learning, I firmly believe that every person has the potential to succeed given the right conditions: high expectations, sensitive encouragement and personalised support.

I have considerable experience of leading continuing professional development in schools and their communities at all levels from Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) programmes through to facilitating the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) for the Red Kite Teaching School Alliance and the Yorkshire Leadership Communities. The ability to use emotional intelligence to lead and manage change is an increasingly important leadership characteristic if quality assurance systems are to have any lasting effect on student outcomes.

For young people I offer support at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. I combine traditional approaches with innovative methods using modern technology. Hallmarks of my offer include:

  • English tuition at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 with expert diagnosis and detailed feedback leading to secure and sustained improvement.
  • Study skills and self-management of personal devices for learning purposes
  • Wider reading at all levels: from engaging the reluctant reader to supporting Oxbridge entry background reading and interview preparation
